Farewell!

Today was my last day in the World Civilizations class with your wonderful students. We played a review game and had a party! We have our final test next class.

I wanted to thank you all for raising such wonderful kids. I had the best student teaching experience I could have asked for. Your students were patient when I was learning, forgiving when I made mistakes, and extremely supportive. I had a lot of fun with them and I will miss them  as well as Lehi Junior High terribly. This is a wonderful school filled with supportive administration and staff.

I have taken a position at Midvale Middle School and I am very excited to start in January. Thank you so much for this semester!

Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday, before Thanksgiving break. 11/17, 11/19, 11/21, 11/25

I want to remind everyone that the last day to turn in ANY zero's from Skyward MUST be made up by December 3rd. I (Mrs. Hanni) am leaving on December 3rd so all grade matters must be taken care of.  I have contacted all parents of students that are failing but please check Skyward to make sure all grades are accurate.

Another reminder, we have a test on December 4th. Students will receive a study guide before Thanksgiving break.

On Monday, we finished Islam and started going over African tribes. Students were each assigned an African tribe and they were given most of the class period to write a paper about that certain tribe.

On Wednesday, we presented the information the class collected on the different African tribes. We had a student whose Father had gone to Africa several times present some unique pictures and things he had purchased at the market in Africa.

Friday we talked about Mesoamerica. We learned about the three main Empire's government and religion.

Tuesday we spent the day talking about Japan, China and India. Chapter 13 in the textbook.

Let me know if you have any questions on grades. It is crucially important that you take care of any issues before December 3rd as they cannot be changed afterwards.

Thanks!
-Mrs. Hanni

Tuesday/Thursday 11th and 13th

Tuesday we went over the Fall of Rome and Christianity. We also played a review game for the test. We had jenga games with each piece numbered. A student would pull out a piece and answer the corresponding question depending on the number. They had a lot of fun with this and it was a great review.

Thursday, Mrs. Hanni was gone taking a test. Mr. Wofford gave the students their Rome test. Afterwards they began going over Islam.

VERY IMPORTANT-
I sent home an announcement today that my last day is December 3rd. ALL zero's in Skyward MUST be made up by December 3rd. We cannot make any exceptions with this as when I leave, I leave.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11/3, 11/5, 11/7 *IMPORTANT TEST INFORMATION*

I (Mrs. Hanni) had to take care of school (Go Aggies!) related meetings and tests this week. Mr. Wofford took over on Monday and Wednesday and talked to World Civ students about Ancient Roman government! He discussed how the United States gets many aspects of our government system from the Romans.

Friday, we went over Christianity and started discussing the Fall of Rome. Monday we will finish up Rome and start talking about the Byzantine Empire.

If your student is in Honors World Civ, they have an assignment to complete a timeline of Ancient Rome. I sent home instructions today.

*IMPORTANT*
Our Ancient Rome test will be on Thursday, November 13th. I sent home a study guide with all of the information about what will be on the test.

*Equally Important*
Mr. Wofford's policy is that everything for a unit is due the day we take the final. Therefore, ALL absent work is due next Thursday. Any 0's in Skyward MUST be made up by Thursday!
I sent a progress report home with students if you do not have internet access at home. They all have a copy.

I apologize for the delay in updating grades. With my absence things got a little backed up. Everything will be current on Monday.
Thanks for your patience!

Tuesday & Thursday, 10/28 10/30

This week, we finished up learning about the social class system. Each of the students had a role assigned to them for the duration of our Rome unit. We learned about what each member of the class system does. We also learned about various aspects of daily life like housing, baths, games, etc. Students had to create a PowerPoint to present to the rest of the class about their topic.

We also learned about the various Emperors of Rome this week. The students were required to make a campaign poster about a certain Emperor. We learned a lot of the Emperors were not very good people, so it was challenging for students to put a positive spin on them.

We ended the week with a "CSI: Julius Caesar"
Students had various pieces of evidence and had to use their reasoning skills to decide why the Senate killed Caesar.

Next week we will talk about government and wrap up our Rome unit.

As always, check Skyward for current grades. I update grades daily.
